Many men were raised in homes where mom carried both roles—provider and nurturer, protector and caregiver. You may recognize something was missing—what it looks like to be a father.

The way you were fathered is shaping the way you parent today. Some men repeat what they experienced. Others react against it. But most do a mixture of both—often without realizing it. Your past may shape how you relate—but intentional fatherhood can reshape how you lead. To be intentional as a father you'll need three things: awareness, ownership, and a plan.

Whether positive or painful, a man’s relationship with his father often becomes the backdrop against which he learns how to navigate life. When a man has the courage to look honestly at his story, the good and the bad, he gains the opportunity to grow beyond it—and become the kind of father his children need.
